As a kid, I loved to watch games, practices, highlights, and coaches’ drills; if it involved basketball, I would watch it. My love for basketball didn’t just apply to playing the game; my goal was to learn as much as I could about it as well.

I never realised I wasn’t maxing out on my ability to improve on the court.
I started to watch basketball more than I actually played basketball. Thinking that I was going to get better because I love watching and soaking up the information about the game.
I was becoming a WATCHER, not a DOER!
As a player who wants to become as successful as possible in the game of basketball, you have to be careful of this. Watching film and learning about the game are important, but they should never replace actually playing and working on your craft.
Studying your favorite players. Watching their workouts and their lives is what watchers do. It’s fun and it is interesting, but it won’t get you the results you are looking for. The best way to become like your favorite players is to PLAY BASKETBALL!
Time IS your most valuable resource.
Every second you spend doing something else takes away from the time you could be doing something to get better, like lifting weights, going for a run, or going to the court and getting up shots. Skills are mastered by doing, not by watching other great players.
Take what you watch and actually apply it to your workouts or use it in a game. Doing all the work of learning about something and never using it or practicing it in the real world is a waste of time.
No matter how much you watch basketball or look at other people playing basketball/ working out, you will never get better in real life unless you put in more time on the court than watching others on the court.
